PCT formula

PCT = (points − penalty) / (matches × 12) × 100

Example: 64 points from 10 Tests. Maximum available is 120, so PCT = 64/120 = 53.33. Open the PCT calculator

Over-rate penalties

Slow over rates cost 1 point per over short after time allowances. In this cycle England (14), Pakistan (8) and West Indies (2) have all been docked points.

Why PCT, not total points

Teams play between 12 and 22 Tests. Ranking by raw points would reward longer schedules. PCT makes every result comparable.

Frequently asked questions

How many points do teams get in the World Test Championship?
Every Test in the 2025-27 cycle awards the same points regardless of series length: 12 for a win, 6 for a tie, 4 for a draw and 0 for a loss.
What is the penalty for a slow over rate in the WTC?
Teams lose 1 competition point for every over they are short of the required rate after time allowances. England (14 points), Pakistan (8) and West Indies (2) have all been docked points in the 2025-27 cycle.
Is a tie the same as a draw in Test cricket?
No. A tie means the match finished with scores exactly level, and is worth 6 points. A draw means the match ran out of time without a result, and is worth 4 points.
Who decides the WTC playing conditions?
The ICC publishes the World Test Championship playing conditions, including the points scale, PCT calculation and tie-breakers. This site applies those rules to every result and cross-checks the output against official ICC tables.
