Frequently asked questions

What is the WTC points table?
The WTC points table ranks the nine teams in the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 by points percentage (PCT). Every Test awards 12 points for a win, 6 for a tie, 4 for a draw and 0 for a loss. The top two teams at the end of the league stage play the WTC Final at The Oval in June 2027.
How is PCT calculated in the WTC points table?
PCT is the points a team has earned (after any penalty deductions) divided by the maximum points available from the matches it has played, expressed as a percentage. Example: 64 points from 10 Tests is 64 / 120 = 53.33 PCT.
Why is the table ranked by PCT and not total points?
Teams play a different number of Tests in the cycle (from 12 to 22), so raw points would favour teams with more matches. PCT makes results comparable across schedules.
Who qualifies for the WTC Final 2027?
The two teams with the highest PCT at the end of the 2025-27 league stage qualify. The Final is scheduled for 9-13 June 2027 at The Oval in London.
Why did England lose WTC points?
England have been docked 14 points in this cycle for slow over rates: 2 points after the Lord's Test against India in July 2025 and 12 points after the Oval Test against New Zealand in June 2026. One point is deducted for every over a side is short of the required rate.
How often is this WTC points table updated?
The table is recalculated after every completed Test and every ICC penalty announcement, then verified against official ICC releases and scorecards. The last update date is always shown above the table.
