Frequently asked questions
- How is the minimum number of wins calculated?
- We take the team's current points and test every win count against the current second-place PCT, assuming the team's other matches are lost (worst case) or drawn (softer case). The bar moves as other teams play, so the number is a snapshot, not a promise.
- What does mathematically eliminated mean in the WTC?
- A team is mathematically eliminated when at least two other teams are guaranteed to finish with a higher PCT than the team's best possible PCT, even if it wins every remaining Test.
- Can a team qualify for the WTC Final without winning all its matches?
- Usually yes. Qualification is about finishing in the top two on PCT, so draws, ties and other teams' results all matter. The scenarios above show the softest route for each team.
How these scenarios are calculated
Every number on this page is derived from the current points table and the list of remaining matches. Maximum PCT assumes a team wins every remaining Test; minimum PCT assumes it loses them all. Status labels are conservative: they only declare control or elimination when no combination of results can change it.
